Influence of Adoptive Parents

Influence of Adoptive Parents

Who influences your image of who you are?

Adoptive parents know the feeling of lavishing love on a chosen child before the child can even love them back. Words, like loved, chosen, and adopted, have a sweet ring to them. Families who have experienced earthly adoption connect with this language and concept of being adopted much easier than those of us who just observe it from the outside. Adoption involves sacrifice, expenses, sorrow, blessings, assurance, and joy. It’s a beautiful metaphor for the Christian faith.

adopted

There are many blessings bestowed by God on His children. We are loved, chosen, adopted, forgiven, alive, and so much more. We are God’s masterpiece! The book of Ephesians, in the Bible, is full of truth and rich with the privileges of being a child of God. Our worth is defined by how God sees us, not how the world sees us or how we feel about ourselves. Christians describe this as being adopted into God’s family.

By faith, we become children of God with all the rights and privileges of being His child. This isn’t just a future blessing when we die and go to Heaven, it starts immediately. I get a smile on my face just thinking about how very much God loves me just because he created me. It is not about anything I have done to earn his love, yet I know that I am loved, chosen, and adopted. I have the assurance that I am a child of God now and forever.

And yet, so many of us doubt who we are and if we are loved. The world and social media fill us with uncertainty about whether we are good enough, pretty enough, special enough, or wealthy enough to be popular and liked by all. We wonder who am I.

Whether we are young, old, adopted, or popular, we wonder. We forget we have been told by our family and friends that we are loved. We wonder. We forget what the Bible tells us about God’s love. We wonder. We look in the mirror and we wonder and worry. We look at our phones and we wonder if we just get enough views and likes, will we know if we are loved? If we have the right clothes or car will we feel the love?

who am I version 4 printable art adoptive parents

I created the Who am I art print after hearing a lesson delivered to a room full of middle schoolers challenging them to see at themselves how GOD sees them not as how their peers do or even how they view themselves. I actually printed it as a flipped image and posted it on my daughters’ bathroom wall opposite the mirror so this reminder is what they see behind them each morning as they look in the mirror. I am loved. I am blessed. I am chosen. I am loved. I am on purpose. The list is longer and you can view it here. https://tailorjoy.com/product/who-am-i/

We do not have to wonder. We can know we are loved and chosen by God. We can be adopted into God’s family with all the blessings and privileges that come with being a child of God. The influence of adoptive parents is enormous.

Who am I printable art would be great to frame anywhere in your house as a reminder of your self-worth. Great gift item, too. Most printers allow you to print in mirror mode if you want to try printing this art in reverse. I have 4 versions of Who am I for sale. Which one will look best with your decor? Which one will you give to a friend?

I have sweet friends who have chosen to lavishly love adopted children. It’s expensive. I’ve chosen to participate in a fundraiser for them, giving all the proceeds from all my product sales November 1-9, 2024 (excluding tutoring and coaching services). Check out my product page and select an item or three. Thanks for being generous to Matthew and Julianne – and all other adoptive parents. If you are local, there’s an art sale tomorrow. Come on out!  skisadopt.com
